HEAD WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH (PART-TIME)
Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a Head Women’s Basketball Athletic Coach. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching sport fundamentals, organizing team staff and roster, driving school vehicles to games, assisting in academic monitoring, recruiting, fundraising, assisting in Athletic Department’s community outreach initiative, and adhering to Virginia Western’s standards of conduct.
This position is a restricted adjunct faculty position subject to the availability of funds, student participation, and governed under restricted faculty policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: Education, experience, training, or combination equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Coaching, Physical Education, or related field. Experience in student-athlete skill assessment with ability to organize team and maximize student-athlete’s abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills with experience working well with diverse populations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and perform well with or without supervision. Ability to assess team needs and develop goal-oriented action plans. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Valid VA Driver’s License.
DESIRED: Post-secondary coaching or collegiate playing/coaching experience. Experience in student academic monitoring. Experience in sports fundraising. Knowledge of college recruiting/transfer process.
