Assistant Coach – Women’s Basketball Job Description:

  • The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in the direction of all phases of a nationally competitive program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations.
  • Specifically duties include: recruiting, handling video exchange, individual instruction/player improvement, coordinating community involvement, completing/submitting administrative and compliance documents and other duties assigned by the head coach.

Responsibilities:

1. Organizes, supervises and coordinates practice sessions.

2. Establishes and maintains an organized recruiting system. Recruits academically qualified student-athletes who form a competitive squad and meet established academic goals and objectives of the department of intercollegiate athletics. Participates in community service activities. 3. Maintains adequate records, interacts with Compliance Coordinator and Faculty Athletic Representative on all matters pertaining to eligibility.

4. Plans for transportation, lodging and meals for team. Stays abreast of modern techniques, trends and strategies. Manages the fiscal affairs of his/her budget and develops a fund raising effort for his/her sport. Responsible for student data; including admissions, financial aid, registration and academic performance data. All such data is treated as confidential in accordance with federal, state and university regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years of related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Be constantly aware and concerned with his/her student-athletes mental and physical well-being.
  • Maintain good rapport with high school and youth coaches.
  • Exercises a high level of public contact on both the local, state and national level through games, recruiting, camps and clinics and developmental programs.
  • Interact with media, professional organizations and others on all levels.
  • Be constantly aware and concerned with his/her student-athletes mental and physical well-being.
