Basketball Coach Job Description:

Director of Men’s Basketball Operations – 0404701
James Madison University, a Division I member of the NCAA and Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking a Director of Men’s BasketballOperations to work within a highly competitive program. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Duties include but are not limited to: overseeing team travel and arrangements; assisting with game day activities and tape exchange; managing equipment inventory and supplies; scheduling weekly player meetings; completing weekly compliance practice reports; scheduling practice times and gym reservations; assisting with on-campus recruiting duties; supervising team managers; coordinating the annual tip-off banquet and attending fundraising events upon request. Candidates will ensure compliance with NCAA, CAA, State of VA and JMU regulations.

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Candidates are required to have previous collegiate coaching/playing or operations experience, preference will be given to candidates with experience at the Division I level.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a record of successful interaction with students in the areas of administration, academic success and rules compliance; evidence of ability to interact positively with student-athletes, parents, colleagues and the public; possess a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential; demonstration of effective oral and written communication skills; knowledge of and commitment to compliance with NCAA rules and regulations and evidence of strong organizational skills is required.
  • Candidates with previous experience with office management, promotional activities and recruiting correspondence; experience with organizing team travel arrangements; computer knowledge and ability to independently manage multiple tasks to bring projects from beginning to completion on time and within budget are preferred.
